About
My name is Dallin and I currently live in Arizona in the Phoenix Metro Area.
I created this website as a way to share my computer and technology knowledge and experience with others through blogging and other interaction. I also sell my time to help with more complex issues if needed.
I’ve been interested in computers and technology for many years, learning whatever I can and tinkering with whatever computers and gadgets I can get my hands on. I often help friends and family with their home computer issues.
I have experience with:
- Windows (2000, XP, Vista, 7), Mac OS X, and Linux operating systems
- Computer hardware – hard drives, RAM, motherboards, power supplies, optical drives, video cards, networking etc. Building, repairing and upgrading computers
- A wide range of software - I’m strongly against software piracy. However, I’m a frugal geek, so I take advantage of open source software and freeware whenever I can. From anti-virus programs to office suites, I can recommend excellent software solutions that won’t obliterate your budget.
- Small-scale databases and reporting tools
- Basic websites – I put this website together myself!
- Getting good hardware for cheap – I know of several excellent resources for great deals on computers, computer parts, and other various and sundry gadgets and electronics.
- Audio/Video Editing
- Answering questions – I’m able to explain technical things in a way that’s easy to understand.
I want to help you get the most out of technology and make it last. If you have an older computer, there’s a good chance you can extend its life through relatively inexpensive hardware and software upgrades.
This is where That PC Geek comes in!
I’m different from those other “geek” services. I’m not out to sell you software or a new computer and I’m not out to take advantage of you.
I have a wonderful “day job” working for The League for Innovation in the Community College. That PC Geek is something I do on the side. I don’t expect it to make me rich, I do it because I find it gratifying when I am able to offer my knowledge and time to others to help them enjoy the technology around them.
So, if you’ve got a computer problem, or you just want to make sure you’re utilizing the technology in your home to its full potential, contact me today and I’ll see what I can do!
